The Randy Rhoads Limited Release Cabernet Sauvignon is a one time vintage created by Kathryn Rhoads D’Argenzio, dedicated with love and affection to honor the memory of her brother, legendary rock guitarist and rock and roll hall-of-famer Randy Rhoads.
The rock pioneer, who was killed tragically in an accidental plane crash at the age of 25, is remembered most famously for his work as lead guitarist and musical composer with Ozzy Osbourne and Quiet Riot, particularly for his complex and anthemetic guitar riffs on the well recognized classic song “Crazy Train.” Rhoads is remembered still today as one of the greatest guitarists of all time.
A generous portion of the proceeds from the unique Cabernet Vintage is dedicated to the Randy Rhoads Charitable Trust, a charity organization which grants scholarships to aspiring young musicians.
“Randy was a devout musician and student of classical guitar,” remembers Kathryn, “Through the Randy Rhoads Charitable Trust we hope that by creating the opportunity for aspiring young musicians to attend a higher education facility and refine their passion means Randy’s legacy will live on for generations to come.”
Harvested in the fall of 2005, The Randy Rhoads Limited Release Cabernet Sauvignon makes a wonderful collectible for wine and rock and roll enthusiasts alike. The blend consists of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Merlot, creating a full bodied wine perfect for long aging in the bottle.
The grapes, grown in the rich red and slightly rocky soils of Redwood Hill, Sonoma County, were aged in French Oak barrels and lightly filtered and unfined. The combination of vine maturity, rich soils, hillside sunshine and Old World methods of winemaking create an outstanding flavor balanced with soft tannins for an easy to enjoy taste.
