2002 D’Argenzio
Merlot Napa Valley
Tasting Notes
This distinctively lush and elegant Merlot, marked by Aromas of ripe cherries and coffee, with the lingering tastes of cocoa beans and dried black figs, is calming and tantalizing. Leaving a passion for more. Aging Well.
Rutherford Vineyards
The Rutherford appellation boasts a warm, well- suited climate for growing full- bodied, extracted Merlot. Warm summer days give way to cool evenings. The soil is gravelly, clay, loam that is part of the Rutherford alluvial fan. It is well drained and receives minimal irrigation throughout the growing season.
This first release of Merlot from D’Argenzio winery is a full bodied, stylish and elegant wine. The nose offers an intriguing, spicy; almost perfume character contributing to its wonderful aroma. The ripe fruit flavors of cherries and plums, which follow, are rich and supple with just the right amount of oak. Moderate tannins and good acidity assist in providing balance and structure.
This limited production bottling of only 84 cases will be a worthy entry into the premium Merlot field. Enjoy it by itself or serve it with your favorite comfort food.

Excellent – a wine with special qualities; Brilliant ruby red. Beautiful aroma of black cherry, coffee, violets and sweet oak. A rich entry leads to a moderately full- bodied palate with a supple mouth feel. The long finish has perfect acidity and sleek tannins. A wonderfully pure and well-balanced Merlot. Leaving a passion for more.
